is a unique body-mind healing practice that combines gentle, assisted yoga techniques with active listening to facilitate self-discovery and exploration of the relationship between our body, our mind and our life.
As we move through life our bodies internalize, process and filter our experiences - mostly without our conscious awareness. Our thoughts and feelings remain stored within us and are often the cause of stress, as well as emotional and physical pain or discomfort.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy offers a way to explore the relationship between your body, your mind and your life in a private context with a certified, highly trained practitioner. Combining classical yoga techniques with elements of contemporary body-centered psychology, PRYT facilitates the release of physical, mental and emotional tension, often resulting in increased energy.
what is a private session like?
In a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) session, you are guided through a sequence of carefully selected, assisted yoga postures and breath work, designed to take you deeper into your internal experience.  As you are supported in the postures, your PRYT practitioner guides you in dialog that concentrates your attention on what you are experiencing.  You are invited to explore the sensations, emotions, memories or images that are present in your body.

Each session includes an integration period, to assist you in processing your experience and exploring how you can bring your insights into actions.

Sessions vary between 1 and 1-1/2 hours, and clients are advised to wear light and comfortable clothing and to arrive with an empty or near empty stomach.

stress less is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy approach to transforming stress based on Michael Lee's book Turn Stress Into Bliss. It is an innovative program that combines yoga and mindfulness meditation in a supportive group setting.


Stress may be defined as “wishing things were different than they are.”  This program helps you discover your own inner truth and helps you explore your process of choosing, the often subconscious mind-body patterns that drive the choices you make in everyday life.  


Once you understand your own truth and learn to make choices from that place, you begin to align your life with that truth through your everyday choices.  This ultimately reduces the differential between your truth and your life as it is, i.e., reducing stress.

~  Friday: 2:30-5pm & 6:30-9pm, Carytown area of Richmond

~ Saturday: 9am-5pm silent retreat, Shalom House, Montpelier

~ Sunday: 9-11:30am & 1-3:30pm, Carytown area of Richmond
